Repair Terms and Conditions
Last updated: September 24, 2026
These Repair Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to all device repair services provided by or on behalf of Strictli LLC ("Strictli," "we," "us," or "our," which includes Strictli's owners, employees, Strictli Certified technicians, contractors, and authorized repair partners), including walk-in repairs and ship-in (mail-in) repairs. Please read them carefully. By submitting a repair request form, shipping a device to us, or dropping off a device for repair, you ("Customer" or "you") agree to these Terms.
Before you send or drop off your device, please know:
- Back up your device. Strictli is NOT responsible for any lost data, for any reason. See Section 5.
- Provide your passcode. We must be able to unlock and test your device.
- Remove cases and accessories. Leave your SIM card installed. Items sent with the device may not be returned.
- Liquid-damaged phones are quoted as data recovery, not as a standard repair. See Section 4.
- Pest-infested devices are charged a $60 critter fee and quarantined for 2 extra business days. See Section 4.
- Inbound shipping is not insured. Strictli is not responsible for loss or damage during shipping.
- Unclaimed devices are forfeited. Devices left for more than 30 days after a completed repair, declined quote, or unanswered quote will be forfeited and recycled.
- No cancellations once a repair has started.
- Questions? Email repairs@strictli.tech or check your repair portal. We cannot give repair status over the phone.
1. Who Performs Your Repair
All Strictli repairs are performed by Strictli Certified technicians under the Strictli name and are backed by Strictli. By using Strictli repair services, you authorize Strictli to handle, inspect, open, diagnose, and repair your device.
Walk-in repairs are handled at our Strictli Repair Partner location in Grandview, Ohio. Customers who arrive at another Strictli location for a walk-in repair will be directed to the Strictli Repair Partner location.
Ship-in repairs are started through the online repair request form on our website. Strictli remains your point of contact for ship-in repairs.
2. Devices and Services
We repair most phones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, game consoles, and other consumer electronics, with the following limits:
- Microsoft Surface Pro devices are not accepted for any repair.
- Board-level (logic board) repair is offered only for iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and game consoles.
Strictli may decline to diagnose or repair any device for any reason, as described in Section 3.
Data recovery is not offered as a general service. It is offered only in limited cases, such as liquid-damaged phones (see Section 4), as a separate, quote-based service. Data recovery attempts are not guaranteed to succeed. Data transfer between devices is available only as a separate, paid, quote-based service that you request and approve in writing.
3. Right to Refuse Service
Strictli reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, and to decline, stop, or return any repair, at any time and for any reason, at our sole discretion. Reasons may include, without limitation, devices that are unsafe to work on, reported lost or stolen, or locked to another person's account; devices for which parts or information are not available; repairs we believe are unlikely to succeed; and abusive, threatening, or fraudulent conduct.
Even when we refuse or stop service, Strictli reserves the right to charge the diagnostic fee and any other fees that we deem necessary based on the condition of the device. This includes devices that pose a health or safety risk, such as devices contaminated with insects or pests (for example, bedbugs), mold, bodily fluids, or other hazardous materials. Fees for these devices may include, without limitation:
- The diagnostic fee
- A hazardous or dangerous materials handling fee
- The $60 critter fee for devices with insects or pests (see Section 4)
- Return shipping fees, including any additional hazardous materials shipping fees required by the carrier
4. Pre-Existing Conditions
Every device is inspected when it arrives. We will document and notify you of any pre-existing damage or conditions we find, such as cracked glass, bent or warped frames, liquid damage or corrosion, swollen batteries, missing screws, or signs of prior repair by another party.
Devices with pre-existing damage carry a higher risk of further failure during repair. By approving a repair on a device with pre-existing conditions, you accept that risk. Strictli is not responsible for the failure of components that were already damaged or weakened before the device arrived, or that fail as a result of that prior condition. Pre-existing conditions may also limit or void warranty coverage as described in Section 13.
The following conditions are handled as described below:
- Liquid damage on phones: Any phone that shows signs of liquid damage, or is sent in for liquid damage, will be quoted as a data recovery service rather than a standard repair. Data recovery is not guaranteed.
- Liquid damage on computers: Liquid damage on laptops and desktops is evaluated case by case. Limited or localized corrosion may be repairable. Where damage is extensive or affects critical board components, we may recommend replacing the device or quote data recovery instead of a repair.
- Bent devices: Any device with more than a slight bend requires a housing replacement, which is quoted in addition to the requested repair.
- Previously opened devices: Devices that have been opened before are accepted. Missing or damaged screws, shields, brackets, and similar internal hardware will be replaced at an additional charge.
- Insects and pests: Any device found to contain insects or pests (for example, roaches or bedbugs), living or dead, will be charged a $60 critter fee. The device will be quarantined for an additional 2 business days to make sure all pests are dead before any diagnostic or repair work begins. The critter fee is charged in addition to the diagnostic fee and any other applicable fees, including the hazardous materials fees described in Section 3.
- Prior board-level work: If a device's logic board has been worked on by another repair provider, an additional $100 is added to the diagnostic fee.
5. DATA LOSS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Strictli is not responsible for any loss, corruption, or exposure of data on any device we receive, diagnose, repair, return, or recycle, for any reason.
5.1 You must back up your device. It is your sole responsibility to back up all data on your device before you ship it, drop it off, or otherwise hand it over for service. If your device is not backed up and data is lost, that loss is not our fault and we will not be liable for it.
5.2 Repairs can erase data. Diagnostic and repair work carries an inherent risk of data loss. Opening a device, replacing components, running diagnostic software, updating or restoring software, and resetting a device can all result in the partial or total loss of data. In some cases, a software restore or factory reset is required to diagnose or complete a repair. By submitting your device, you authorize us to perform these steps where necessary.
5.3 What "data" includes. Data includes, without limitation: photos, videos, contacts, messages, emails, notes, documents, music, app data, game progress, settings, passwords, saved logins, two-factor authentication and authenticator app codes, eSIM profiles, software licenses, and any other files or information stored on the device or on any memory card or storage inside it.
5.4 We do not back up your data. We do not create backups of your device before, during, or after service. Data recovery is offered only in limited cases, is quote-based, and is not guaranteed to succeed (see Section 2). Data transfer is available only as a separate, paid, quote-based service.
5.5 Recycled devices. Any device that is recycled under these Terms, whether by your choice or because it was forfeited, will be recycled along with any data it contains. Data on recycled devices cannot be recovered.
5.6 Privacy. We access your device only as needed to diagnose, repair, and test it. We do not intentionally view, copy, or keep your personal content. We still recommend that you remove or log out of any sensitive information you do not want accessible during service.
5.7 Release. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Strictli LLC and its owners, employees, Strictli Certified technicians, contractors, and authorized repair partners from any and all claims, damages, and costs arising from the loss, corruption, or exposure of data, including any costs of recreating or recovering data.
6. Passcodes and Device Access
You must provide your device passcode, PIN, or password so that we can unlock and fully test your device before and after the repair. You do not need to turn off Find My or similar tracking features, but your passcode is required even if those features remain on.
If we cannot access your device, we may be unable to diagnose, repair, or test it. In that case your repair may be delayed or your device may be returned unrepaired, and any applicable fees in Sections 7 and 10 will apply. You are responsible for any account locks, activation locks, or carrier locks on your device.
7. Diagnostic Fees
A diagnostic fee applies to every device we receive. Diagnostic fees vary by device type (for example, phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers). The current diagnostic fee for your device is shown on the repair request form or provided at intake.
Diagnostics will be completed within 48 hours of your device arriving at the repair facility. After the diagnostic, we will contact you with our findings and the price of the recommended repair.
8. Pricing, Quotes, and Approval
Most repairs are offered at flat-rate pricing. Some repairs, depending on the job and its complexity, are priced by individual quote. No repair work beyond the diagnostic will be performed until you approve the price.
If we discover additional issues during the repair that would change the price, we will contact you for approval before doing any additional work. Approvals and quotes may be communicated by email, text message, or phone using the contact information you provide.
9. Parts
You may choose from the following part tiers, subject to availability for your device:
- OEM (Genuine): New parts made by or for the original device manufacturer.
- Genuine Pulled: Original manufacturer parts removed from another device.
- Aftermarket: Parts made by third-party manufacturers.
The part tier you choose affects price, wait time, and warranty length (see Section 13). Unless you request otherwise, repairs are performed with high-quality aftermarket parts. OEM parts are available by request and may add to the repair wait time.
Parts pairing and "Unknown Part" messages. Aftermarket parts cannot be paired to your device. On Apple devices and some other brands, this means an "Unknown Part" or "non-genuine part" message will appear in the device's Settings, and some features tied to the original part may be limited or unavailable. Affected features can include True Tone and display color calibration, Face ID or Touch ID, battery health reporting, and similar functions. These messages and limitations are not defects and are not covered by warranty. If you want to avoid them, request OEM parts when you approve your repair.
Liquid and dust resistance cannot be guaranteed after any device has been opened.
Replaced parts are not returned to the customer. All replaced parts are kept by Strictli and responsibly recycled.
10. Payment
Payment for the repair is charged when the repair is completed. Devices will not be released or shipped back until all fees, including any return shipping and optional insurance fees, are paid in full.
11. Declined Quotes
If you decline the repair quote after the diagnostic, you may choose one of the following options:
- Return your device. Pay the diagnostic fee and the return shipping fee (for ship-in repairs) and we will return your device unrepaired.
- Recycle your device. Have your device responsibly recycled on site at no charge. You may then choose to purchase a replacement device from Strictli. Data transfer is not included and is not our responsibility unless you purchase it as a separate, quote-based service. Data transfer may not be available for every device. Depending on the severity of the damage, your device may not be eligible for data transfer at all. Once a device is recycled, it and any data on it cannot be recovered (see Section 5.5).
If you do not respond to a quote, your device is subject to Section 15 (Unclaimed Devices).
12. Cancellations
Once you have approved a repair and work has begun, the repair cannot be canceled.
13. Warranty
13.1 Coverage periods. Unless otherwise stated on your repair invoice, repairs are warrantied as follows, starting on the date the repair is completed:
- OEM (Genuine) and Genuine Pulled parts: 1 year
- Aftermarket parts: 60 days
13.2 What is covered. The warranty covers defects in the parts we installed and in the workmanship of the repair we performed, under normal use. It covers both parts and labor for that repair only.
13.3 What is not covered. The warranty is non-accidental and does not cover:
- Liquid damage of any kind
- Physical damage, including drops, cracks, bends, and impact damage
- Devices opened, repaired, or modified by anyone other than Strictli or Strictli Certified Technicians after our repair
- Components or issues unrelated to the repair we performed
- Failures caused by pre-existing conditions (see Section 4)
- Software issues, data loss, or software notices described in Section 9
- Normal wear and tear
Any of the conditions above will void the warranty on the affected repair.
13.4 Making a warranty claim. Contact us at repairs@strictli.tech with your order or invoice number and a description of the issue before sending your device. We will inspect the device to confirm the claim is covered. For covered claims, we will repair or replace the affected part or, at our discretion, refund the cost of the original repair.
14. Ship-In Repairs
14.1 Getting started. Complete the online repair request form. We will send you a prepaid shipping label to send your device to us.
14.2 Packing your device. Pack your device securely with enough padding to prevent movement or damage. Remove all cases, covers, and accessories before shipping. Leave your SIM card installed. Any cases, accessories, chargers, cables, or other items sent with your device may be lost or discarded, and may not be returned to you.
14.3 Shipping risk and insurance. The prepaid label we provide for sending your device to us does not include shipping insurance. Strictli is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to your device while it is in transit, in either direction. You may request shipping insurance on the return shipment for an additional fee. If you purchase return insurance, any claim will be handled through the carrier's insurance process.
14.4 Return shipping. A return shipping fee applies to send your device back to you, whether it was repaired or not. We will ship to the address provided on your repair request form. We are not responsible for devices shipped to an incorrect address that you provided.
15. Unclaimed Devices
We will contact you using the email address and phone number you provide. Any device that is held for more than 30 days after (a) we notify you that your repair is complete, (b) you decline a quote, or (c) we send a quote that goes unanswered, will be considered abandoned. Abandoned devices are forfeited to Strictli and will be recycled, along with any data they contain. You will have no further claim to a forfeited device.
Please keep your contact information up to date and respond to our messages promptly.
16. Turnaround Time
Diagnostics will be completed within 48 hours of your device arriving at the repair facility. Total repair time varies based on the service required, part availability, and the device's condition. Repairs using OEM parts may take longer. Devices quarantined for insects or pests (see Section 4) will take an additional 2 business days, and the diagnostic timeline begins after the quarantine ends. Any turnaround time we provide for the repair itself is an estimate, not a guarantee. Shipping time is not included in turnaround estimates.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of Strictli LLC for any claim arising from or related to repair services is limited to the amount you paid for the repair giving rise to the claim. Strictli is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, loss of use, lost profits, or the cost of a replacement device.
18. Recycling
Devices and parts recycled under these Terms are recycled responsibly. No compensation is owed to you for any recycled device or part.
19. Changes to These Terms
Strictli reserves the right to change, update, or replace any part of these Terms at any time, as we see fit, without prior notice. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. It is your responsibility to review these Terms before each repair. Your submission of a repair request, shipment of a device, or drop-off of a device after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
20. General
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect.
