Surface Pro 3 (2014): The Tablet That Replaced the Laptop.
The device that defined the category. The Refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 3 pairs a brilliant 12-inch 2160 x 1440 PixelSense display with a full copy of Windows, a built-in multi-position kickstand, and a magnesium body that weighs just 1.76 lbs. With Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 processors and the Surface Pen included in the box, it is an outstanding value for note-taking, coursework, browsing, and everyday productivity.
At a Glance: Why Choose the Surface Pro 3?
- 3:2 PixelSense Display: A 12-inch, 2160 x 1440 touchscreen with a taller 3:2 aspect ratio — noticeably more vertical room for documents and web pages than a widescreen laptop.
- Surface Pen Included: Every Surface Pro 3 shipped with a pressure-sensitive Surface Pen (256 levels) for handwriting, sketching, and marking up documents.
- Full-Friction Kickstand: Adjusts continuously to 150°, so it stands up on a desk, a lap, or a kitchen counter without an accessory.
- Real Ports: Full-size USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, a microSD reader, a headset jack, and the magnetic Surface Connect charging port.
- Under 2 Pounds: Just 1.76 lbs and 0.36" thin, with 5MP cameras front and rear, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and TPM 2.0 security.
Pick Your Processor
The Surface Pro 3 shipped in five factory configurations, and we list every one of them. The Intel Core i3-4020Y with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD is the entry point for browsing, streaming, and schoolwork. The Core i5-4300U steps up to a 128GB or 256GB SSD with up to 8GB of RAM for comfortable multitasking. At the top, the Core i7-4650U pairs 8GB of RAM with a 256GB or 512GB SSD for the most demanding work this generation can handle.
Good to Know Before You Buy
The Surface Pro 3 runs Windows 10. Because it uses a 4th-generation Intel processor, it is not eligible for Windows 11 — Microsoft's requirement starts at 8th-generation Intel chips. If Windows 11 matters to you, look at the Surface Pro 6 instead. The Type Cover keyboard is sold separately; the Surface Pen is included. We would rather tell you up front than have you find out later — that is what Strictli Certified means.
