Pixel 11, Galaxy Z Fold 8 & iPhone 18: Inside the 2026 Flagship Showdown
The 2026 Flagship Showdown Is On
Samsung, Google, and Apple are all swinging this fall — and prices are climbing. Here's the smart play.
This autumn is shaping up to be one of the most crowded flagship seasons ever. Samsung's new foldables just landed, Google's Pixel 11 arrives August 12, and Apple's iPhone 18 lineup is expected in September. It's exciting — and expensive. Here's what's coming from all three, and why the smartest buyers won't be paying full price for any of it.
Samsung: foldables, out now
Samsung fired first. Its July Unpacked brought the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8, with the Z Fold 8 Ultra billed as its thinnest foldable ever — all launching August 7. It's the most polished foldable lineup yet, and it sets the bar for the season.
Google: Pixel 11 on August 12
Google moved its Made by Google event to prime time — 6 p.m. ET on August 12 in New York. Expect the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and a Pixel 11 Pro Fold, plus a playful new "Pixel Glow" notification light. The catch: reports say Google is dropping the 128GB base tier in favor of 256GB and raising prices by around $100 across the line, citing rising component costs.
Apple: iPhone 18 in September
Apple closes the season around September 8 with the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable iPhone. As with the others, this is premium territory — foldables and Pro models routinely run four figures.
The smart-money alternative
Every launch this fall makes last year's flagships better value. Want a foldable? A certified Galaxy Z Flip 5 delivers the experience for hundreds less. Prefer a traditional flagship? The Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16 are still elite — at certified prices.
Frequently asked questions
When does the Pixel 11 launch?
Google's event is set for August 12, 2026, in New York. Final pricing and availability come from Google.
Are new flagships really getting more expensive?
Reports point that way — for example, Google is said to be dropping its 128GB base tier and raising Pixel prices. Certified refurbished is the reliable way to sidestep those increases.
Should I buy a foldable now or wait?
If you want the very newest, wait for the fall releases. For value, a certified Galaxy Z Flip 5 gives you the foldable experience today for far less.
iPhone or Galaxy — which should I get?
Both are excellent; it comes down to the ecosystem you prefer. See our iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy guide to decide.
